Brief History
The name of the settlement (nowadays the village) with I. Bounia (Ι. Μπουνιά) came from its first inhabitants in which brought the name Doukas (Δούκας, meaning duke in Greek). The older written origin had Doukades in a notary writing from 1616. It brought the rocky archive of the Theotokis family, the Venetian press sagrado of Cuartano, the hamlet Korangio in which and the building of its public school in the entrance of the village. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, much of its buildings were rebuilt. Doukades was characterized as a settlement with the law of October 19, 1978. |
