Villa Sotiris is located on the outskirts of Nissaki with just a 10 minute car drive down to its excellent beach, waterside tavernas and mini market. During the day, one can enjoy the fantastic pebbly beach with its amazingly clear water which never seems to get too busy. Excellent for swimming, snorkeling, watersports and relaxation!

Mid June is the local village ‘Panayierie’ or festival of the Nissaki church, and an evening of dancing, music, eating and merriment is had by all! Everyone is welcome, but go early to claim your table and chairs as this is a big festival. Here you can usually buy fresh spit roasted lamb by the kilo or souvlaki and bread and can wash it down with beer, wine, retsina or soft drinks all at good prices. A visit inside Nissaki church is a must, the Greek Pappas will greet you and offer you a piece of the special bread they have for this occasion.

Here are a few of the nearby bays to Villa Sotiris, Katavolos near Nissaki and further North:-

Nissaki

sotiris sotiris sotiris

The name Nissaki (or Nisaki) means "little island" and according to the Corfiot’s, was the name given to the small island that was joined with the mainland caused by many years of piled up rubble from the old nearby query. That original island is now joined to the land and occupied by the ‘Mitsos Taverna’. Nissaki is the first of the pretty little coves nestling at the base of Mount Pantokrator which you reach when heading north from Corfu Town. A small side lane leads off the main road and peters out by the sea where a handful of tavernas are perched on a small rocky headland which juts into the crystal clear waters. On one side of the headland is a miniature pebbly beach and on the other a newly built harbour where a few small fishing boats jostle with a handful of little motor boats for hire. There are a handful of traditional tavernas all serving local Corfiot dishes, a couple of mini markets and the village Church.

Kaminaki

Consisting of just a couple of delightfully unpretentious tavernas, a small shop and a jumbled cluster of picturesque, pastel-shaded houses nestling above a white pebble beach at the foot of an olive clad valley, the tiny seaside hamlet of Kaminaki is the perfect setting for a truly relaxing holiday. The beach is exceptionally clean and is ideal for families with young children. It is also a lovely hideaway retreat for couples, especially in spring, early summer and autumn, with wonderful walks in this area. Boat hire can also be booked from this small bay.

Krouzeri Beach

sotiris sotiris sotiris
sotiris sotiris sotiris

Krouzeri Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu. Therefore it has the BLUE FLAG of the European Nation.  Krouzeri Beach combines magical colours, flaming sunsets, luxurious vegetation, (lush green even in the height of summer) a riot of radiant flowers and colourful blooms, centuries old olive groves and rich pergolas. Krouzeri has a long beach (pebble and sand) offering safe swimming, many water sports and diving. Beachside tavernas provide welcome refreshments to those enjoying the beach and excellent snorkeling. The nearby Nissaki Beach Hotel offers a swimming pool which is open to non-residents, a restaurant and bar and, during the evening a low-key disco.

Agni Bay

sotiris sotiris sotiris

Agni literally translates as ‘unspoilt’ in Greek and this describes the bay perfectly. Accessed by a narrow and
winding road, the drive is well worth the effort as the bay is beautiful, with crystal clear waters surrounded by
olive and cypress trees. A choice of 3 tavernas and a snack bar with sunbeds and umbrella’s all on the beach front.

Yaliskari Bay

sotiris sotiris sotiris

The next small bay to Agni is Yaliskari Bay; it is completely undeveloped and has excellent swimming and snorkeling here. You can reach it on foot from Agni over a track to the rock formations.

sotiris sotiris sotiris

Nearby is the ‘Chapel of Agios Arsenius’ mentioned by Lawrence Durrell in “Prospero Cell”. Below it is a small underwater cave for the more adventurous snorkelers and swimmers

Kalami Bay

sotiris sotiris sotiris
sotiris sotiris sotiris

Beautiful Kalami Bay is renowned as the place where Lawrence Durrell wrote 'Prospero's Cell' in the
1930's. The book brought Corfu to the attention of the English and so began their love affair with the
island and their friendship with its people. Despite its fame, this delightful village retains a traditional
and peaceful atmosphere and is geared very much towards anyone hoping for a quieter, family holiday.
Kalami does have a small number of bars and several excellent tavernas so you will never be short of
good places to eat and drink. There are also a few craft shops and mini-markets so, without being
overdeveloped, Kalami can provide you with everything you need during your stay.
The beach is mainly shingle and slopes into sparkling waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. You
can also hire pedaloes, canoes and boats with which to explore the 'secret' coves and beaches that are
to be found all along the coast.

Kouloura Harbour

sotiris sotiris sotiris

Kouloura is a small pretty fishing village not a resort. Here there is a working harbour, where many of the locals moor there boats. The view of the harbour is probably one of the most painted in the area. The main house is owned by the Agnelli family as their holiday home. Kouloura is an excellent example of a small traditional Greek bay that has not been adversely affected by tourism.

At the other end of the bay there is a small beach named ‘Chouchoulio Beach’ ideal for swimming and sunbathing. A walk around the harbour is interesting, but to see the best view of Kouloura is to drive or walk up to the main road turn right and there is an excellent photo point of the harbour and views across to Albania. There is one fish Taverna in Kouloura, it also serves some meat dishes but no bars!

And South of Nissaki is:

Barbati Beach

sotiris sotiris sotiris
sotiris sotiris sotiris

Barbati is perched at the foot of Mount Pantokrator, amidst green cypress trees; it has breathtaking views across to Corfu Town on the right and Albania on the left. The sheer, rocky backdrop secludes Barbati from the rest of the island, giving it an isolated, hidden feel. The village also offers a small selection of bars, tavernas, supermarkets, launderette and souvenir shops, with a newly built church in the centre of the village.
Barbati took its name from the mansion of the noble Barbatis family and its beach is a white stretch of shingle against an azure sea. Wonderfully situated to provide whatever you are looking for in a holiday: You can laze in the sun, explore the coast by boat, take part in all kinds of water sports and enjoy the good restaurants.

Ipsos

sotiris sotiris sotiris
sotiris sotiris sotiris

Ipsos is situated on the east coast of Corfu, 14 km north of Corfu Town, and has a perfect mixture of beach sports and nightlife, combining attractions such as water skiing and parascending with great clubs, bars and restaurants. In other words - there's something to suit all tastes. Ipsos is one of the liveliest resorts on Corfu, stretching out along one kilometer of pebbly but gently shelving beach. The natural curve of the bay of Ipsos is a scenic setting, with fine views along the coast to Corfu Town, the green hills inland and the mountains of mainland Greece and Albania. The resort mainly comprises a broad, straight main road just above the beach which curves into a tiny harbour. Its main appeal lies in the availability of water sports, which include pedaloes, para-gliding, water-skiing, windsurfing and boat hire. The sea is clean; Ipsos has been awarded a European Blue Flag.
